Reconciling Ministries Network is hiring a full-time Field Organizer with Young Adult Emphasis. We are accepting applications until Friday, August 29, 2008. You can find the job description, qualifications and application instructions here: Young Adult Field Organizer
MOSAIC began in May of 1996 at the United Methodist Student Forum in Oklahoma City. A group of college student participants were aggrieved by the decision of the Forum not to encourage the national church assembly to strike homophobic language from church law. In response, several students gathered to create a national student coalition and network in support of ministry inclusive of all people.
MOSAIC is an extension ministry of the Reconciling Ministries Network. We are comprised of students, seminarians, and young adults who affirm all sexual orientations and gender identities as gifts of God.
We commit ourselves to:
1. strengthening communities and relationships through acts of reconciliation and healing in the name of Christ.
2. Providing resources to assist United Methodist ministries in their efforts for inclusiveness.
3. Advocating for full participation of persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities within the life and leadership of the United Methodist Church.
We seek to create change in Church policies and practices which are exclusionary of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender persons, their families, and their allies. By being a grassroots movement, we seek to live out Christ's message of inclusiveness in our churches, schools, and daily lives. As well, we seek to be a presence at various events that attract young United Methodists, as well as gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender persons and their allies. As well, we intend to be a strong presence at Annual (regional), Jurisdictional, and General Conferences of the United Methodist denomination. MOSAIC is guided by a Strategic Planning Team which meets twice a year and is always open to new participants.
