RMN is delighted to welcome the Orange County Community of Reconciling United Methodists (OCCORUM) to the Reconciling Ministries Network. Beginning with a covenant to meet quarterly and work for full inclusion, the members of OCCORUM established a plan to help connect new residents to Welcoming churches in Orange county. These churches must have pastoral support for full inclusion and the personal recommendation of a member of OCCORUM in order to be recommended as a safe and friendly place for persons of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The shared hope of RMN and OCCORUM is that these congregations will come to value the evangelical nature of an open, explicit welcome and will move towards become Reconciling churches.
OCCORUM seeks to change church policies and practices to allow the full participation of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the ministry and life of The United Methodist Church, particularly in the Orange County area of the California-Pacific Annual Conference. As United Methodists, we seek to model a more faithful Conference … to foster disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
