All Annual Conferences
If you have events coming up in your Annual Conference to prepare for General Conference 2008, we will gladly list them on our events page. Send your event to antony@rmnetwork.org.
MoSAIC is in the process of developing a video blog of stories from young adults in the United Methodist Church. MoSAIC is collecting personal stories/testimonies about why full inclusion of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons is important to you as a young adult and as a United Methodist. The collected videos will be posted on both a MoSAIC video blog and YouTube. For more information, visit our January 23, 2008 Flashnet.
In the Northern Illinois Annual Conference
The best way to participate in the Northern Illinois Annual Conference is to join our Reconciling Ministries Network (RMN) Volunteer Social Group. Simply enter your email address and click "Join". Then check the "N_IL Local Volunteer" box and click "Submit".
In Your Home Community
In Your Home Community | Planning a RUM Cluster Event
During General Conference Reconciling United Methodists (RUMs) will worship, pray, and participate in the "holy conversations". This will not be confined to Fort Worth!
As the General Conference unfolds, local people can gather as “RUM Clusters”
to share the news – good and bad,
to share support – celebrations and hugs,
and to share devotions – songs and prayers.
We invite you to organize a local event in your area ~ we hope that anyone who is looking for community, will find a place of authentic welcome.
RMN will help you to organize these local events.
1. Choose a time and place - During the General Conference, after it ends, or both. This may be in a local church or someone’s home.
2. Plan the time of gathering, story-telling, and worship.
3. Order One Family Tree Buttons – 10 for $3, 20 for $6… Actual size 2 1/4" diameter. Call 773-736-5526 or email Sarah@RMnetwork.org to order.
4. Notify RMN – We will list your gathering through our event's page.
5. Host the event. Have an opportunity for people to leave their contact information. Submit names of new RUMs to us.
6. What next? These RUM cluster events may end with setting a date for future meetings or to plan for the local Annual Conference.
Questions? Contact Sue Laurie, Outreach Coordinator, sue@rmnetwork.org or 773-736-5526
In 2004 there were many opportunities for "RUM Clusters" – local groups of Reconciling United Methodists who came together to learn more, share stories, worship, pray and support one another. We want to grow this movement so that even more people will find a place in 2008.
Visit our main General Conference page for ideas about participation in Fort Worth, in your Annual Conference and in your local area. http://www.rmnetwork.org/gc2008.asp.
